Glendon Rusch was one a top prospect in the Kansas City Royals organization.
Rusch won his way into the Mets rotation by battling Bobby M. Jones and Dennis Springer during Spring Training in 2000.
This 26 year old, lefthander may be a mainstay in the Mets rotation for years to come since he is not eligible for free agency for a few years.


Monday 4/23/2001 Huge blow for Atlanta's Rusch, career over ATLANTA - It was one of baseball sadest days. Atlanta's southpaw Glendon Rusch fell victim to a career ending injury in a game against Houston on Monday. He complained about pain after throwing a pitch to Lance Berkman, then suddenly collapsed. After being taken to a local hospital, Rusch was examined by specialists. The diagnosis revealed the sad truth, a Torn Ligament Elbow. In 4 starts this year Glendon struck out 18 batters in 24.1 innings of work. His ERA is 1.48, his record 2-1. His career featured a record of 25-37 with an ERA of 4.98. Baseball will certainly miss this great player.
